This portable GPS friction mount is the way to go to avoid having to attach the GPS to your winshield with the messy adhesive and/or suction cup. Great stability and obviously quite portable. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey. Other than its price, I would recommend it over any other way to mount your GPS.
